Deacon Ministry First and foremost, the Deacons of Havelock Community Missionary Baptist Church are servants of the Lord. Their primary responsibility is to care for the needs of the congregation to ensure the pastor is free to focus on prayer and preaching the Word of God. The Deacon Ministry: Administers the benevolence fund to meet basic needs of those experiencing financial hardship. Visits and prays with the sick, the bereaved, or others in need of spiritual support. Assists with carrying out the two Ordinances of the Church, the Lord’s Supper and baptism. Coordinates pulpit supply when a pastoral vacancy occurs. The Deacon Ministry is also actively engaged in other aspects of the work of the ministry. The deacons don’t just sit on the sidelines and watch others work; they’re each involved as volunteers in the ministry in a manner that serves as an example to the rest the body of Christ. On a routine basis, our deacons can be found serving as van drivers, assisting with grounds and maintenance, serving as Sunday school teachers or volunteering to serve in any other capacity to support the work of the ministry. They are truly servants of God and this congregation! |
